Just in time for the busy season at the Langdon Activity Center, instructor Chris Walsh has stepped out on her own and founded 7 Pillars Fitness Studio inside the Activity Center near the racquetball courts.

The studio opened Monday, Oct. 14 and Walsh said she is on her way.

“I’m very excited and a little nervous but mostly excited,” Walsh said. “I can’t wait to share my passion for fitness in Langdon.”

With over 20 years of experience as a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Walsh is anxious to introduce the seven fitness principles that make up her name, 7 Pillars Fitness.

“I chose 7 Pillars because I believe there are seven principles to overall good health; cardiovascular conditioning, weight training, flexibility, balance and core work, feeding your spirit and soul, proper diet and rest and getting medical exams and screenings,” she explained. “I sent out surveys in the area trying to capture what most people wanted and would like to see and the needs matched up well with the seven principles.”

As her program continues to develop, the metamorphosis will include classes in yoga, strength training, core classes, active older adult classes and keeping time for personal training.

But most importantly, Walsh will keep an open mind on adapting and adjusting to changes that will come her way.

“Everything will be constantly morphing and changing,” she said with a smile. “I will continue to use the ideas other people have given me to create the most balanced fitness routine I can.”

Walsh said she ultimately has only one goal for her clients: to see them succeed.

“I feel like I succeed when other people succeed,” Walsh said. “That drives me. I am compassionate and I have a lot of empathy to see people do well in life.

“I try to focus on having a steward’s heart. To me, fitness is a gift for everybody. It is something that, with the right mind set , can change your life.

“Don’t give up on yourself. Come see me.”

7 Pillars Fitness Studio is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 a.m. until 6:15 p.m.
