The Health Fair comes to town

The first annual Cavalier County Health Fair comes to Langdon on Thursday, February 22, at the Cavalier County Courthouse from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is free to the public and will feature various health screenings, demonstrations and healthy snacks.

Cavalier County Memorial Hospital is partnering with several groups to help get you and your loved ones on the path to your best health yet! The hospital will have information and screenings related to diabetic education including blood sugar screenings, diabetic education and handout materials. The nursing staff will conduct blood pressure checks, screenings and education.

Infection Control will demonstrate proper hand hygiene and distribute education materials. Mary Shankar will discuss the hospital foundation. The Ambulance Service will conduct a look-alike poison demonstration. The Patient Care Coordinator will hand out information that should be covered during an annual wellness visit. The Nutrition Department will hand out healthy snacks and nutritional information.

Macine Lukach with the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Extension will present Managing Stress and Pursuing Wellness in Times of Tight Margins. Chris Walsh of the 7 Pillars Fitness Studio, Beth Olson of the Alzheimer’s Association, and Kristi Hennager of Pristine Massage will be on site with demonstrations and educational information.

Karrie Mikkelsen from the Cavalier County Senior Meals and Transit will have information about meals, foot care and transportation services available. The local Ministerial Association will also have a representative available to discuss spiritual health matters. Various other health care providers will be on site like Physical Therapists and Primary Care Practitioners.
