This year, D&B Motors in Langdon will celebrate their 35 anniversary year during the annual Show and Shine. The fun starts this week on Thursday, June 14 from 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at D&B Motors dealership. For owner Danny Roy, this is his seventh annual Show and Shine event.
Last year more than 50 cars entered the show. This year, Roy hopes to have a great deal more entries. The cost to register $20. Participants can pre-register or register the day of the car show. Prizes will be awarded in three categories: People’s Choice Camaro, People’s Choice Corvette and People’s Choice,Open class.
Last year’s nine winners included Scott and Julie Ferry, who won first place in the Camaro Class for their 1969 Camaro SS; Ken Worrall took home the second place trophy for his 2016 Camaro. For the Corvette class, Mark and Jan Demars won first place for their 2017 Grand Sport Corvette. Todd Borchardt took home second place for his 1978 Corvette. In the Chevy Open Class, Kenny Beggs of Langdon took home first place for his 1956 Chevy, and Jeff Fewell took home second place for his 1971 Chevy Pickup.
The scheduled events are a little different from the past shows put on by Roy. According to Jennifer Busse, this year all makes and model vehicles will be allowed to participate in the car show. Located in the D&B car lot, patrons can come out and see the amazing Chevys, Camaros, and other eye-popping vehicles on display.
In prior years, during the first few Show and Shines, only Corvette and Camaros were allowed to participate in the classes, Roy then opened up the competition by accepting only GM models for the Show and Shine. This year, Roy has decided to open up the Show and Shine to all vehicles in the area.
Another significant change to the event this year is the shortened event and the alternate cruise destination. Instead of doing a long two-day event cruising to The Shed in Warroad, Minn. for a tour, the organizers have decided to condense the show down to one day. Busse said that as part of the celebration for the 35th Anniversary, instead of the usual car run on the night of June 14 the group will head on over to Nekoma for supper at the Pain Reliever.
Anyone who registers a car for the event will get a T-shirt and a free supper at the Pain Reliever in Nekoma. Busse also stressed that everyone is invited to go to Nekoma with the group from the Show and Shine, to socialize and eat supper.
Busse said that the organizers also expect some of the race cars sponsored by Roy and D&B Motors to stop by for the car show. Busse noted that during June, D&B Motors will have several giveaways to celebrate Roy’s 35th anniversary.
