Summer activities are here in full force
By Jake Kulland
We have now hit June, and things will be coming fast and furious for the next two months. Langdon summer baseball and softball are now in high gear, and almost every weeknight now through mid-July, you will see every diamond filled, and people and kids everywhere. If you are driving by the diamonds in the evenings, we ask they you please use extreme caution, as players are running everywhere, and the baseball and softball are flying in all directions. They is tremendous participation in all levels once again this year, and it’s just super to see everyone out enjoy the sport and having a good time. Just as busy this time of year is the Langdon Country Club, as Tournament Time has now hit the course, and will do so until early August. The Cavalier County Memorial Charity Golf Tournament is happening June 9, and that is just the kickoff of things to come. The big one up next is the Langdon School District Foundation Tournament on June 23, and to get your 4-person team signed up, please call Chalmer Dettler or Charlie Jordan for more information.
Warwick Workouts Basketball Camp nearly full
Langdon-Edmore-Munich Girls Basketball Coach Rob Scherr tells us that the Warwick Workouts Basketball Camp that is coming to Langdon on June 13-14 is nearly full. They run three different age divisions, and the K-2 and 3-6 grade age groups are already full. However there still was room for some kids in upcoming grades 7-12. This is for both boys and girls, and the spots in the higher grades were down to the single digits, as they cap it at 40 kids for each level. The coaches coming to run this camp are from Sioux Falls, SD, and we are told that this is a premier camp, top shelf all the way. So if you have been waiting to sign you child up, wait no longer, call Coach Scherr at 701-360-1384 soon.
Delvo, Tetrault, named to All-State Baseball team; Red Sox home opener is June 13
Congratulations go out this week to Jacob Delvo and Conner Tetrault, who were both name to the 2018 Universal Athletic Class B All-State Baseball Team. Delvo was named to the first team and Tetrault the second, although a strong argument could be made that both deserved first squad honors. We will have more on this next week with a picture and their stats for the season. Meanwhile, both those players will be leading the Langdon Red Sox American Legion Baseball team in their home opener, which is this Wednesday, June 13 at 5:00 p.m. The Red Sox play in the Northeast Region once again this year, and their league is the same with teams from Thompson, Nelson County, Larimore, Cando, Harvey, Midway-Minto, and Hatton in the conference. Langdon also has the honor once again this year of the hosting the State B Tournament on Aug. 1-5. This is the fourth time they have hosted it along with 1998, 2002 and 2014. We will have much more on that in weeks leading up to the tourney. You can find a Red Sox schedule in this weeks paper.

We will leave by wishing good luck to Langdon-Edmore-Munich’s Rachel Hill, who will be playing in the Optimists All-Star Volleyball Matches on June 11-12. They will play June 11 at West Fargo-Sheyenne High School, and June 12 in Bismarck. Rachel, an Class B All-State selection this past season, will be competing for the East All-Stars and will playing with and facing the top players from North Dakota Class A & B Volleyball. Hill will be playing college volleyball at Lake Region State College this fall. Go get ’em Rach!
