There were a lot of new faces in new positions when the Cards hosted the Lisbon Broncos on Aug. 25. While there may have been a few areas where the Cardinals will have to clean up some things, Langdon-Edmore-Munich rolled to a 45-28 non-conference win. They had another home game versus Rugby on Aug. 31, then Cards will have their first road game of the year at Harvey-Wells County on Sept. 7. Homecoming for the Cardinals is set for Sept. 14 when they will play Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn.

The Cards had a great start to the game with the Broncos, forcing a three and out on Lisbon’s first drive, then scoring shortly thereafter on a beautifully set up tight end screen pass from Simon Romfo to Alex Lowery, who sprinted down the left sideline for a 46 yard touchdown.

Lisbon is expecting to be a lot better this season after going winless last year, and that showed when they got a long pass completed to set a Jordan Sours one yard TD run.

Behind 8-6 at the time, the Cardinals got the lead right back as Simon Romfo ran back the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown to give Langdon-Edmore-Munich the lead for good.

The Cards tried to get everyone into the act, as Grant Romfo ran in two scores from short distance, Sean Gette put in a 30 yard touchdown run, and they capped their scoring on another tight end screen TD from Simon Romfo to Lowery.

The Cardinals defense gave up a couple of long pass plays, but otherwise was solid the whole game. Simon Romfo finished with 225 yards passing with two touchdowns plus 104 yards rushing. Grant Romfo had 126 yards rushing to lead the team, while Lowery had 94 yards receiving.
