School Board President Cindy Stremick opened the meeting by sharing the results of the investigation into Welsh and her work at the school. Stremick, fellow board member Chris Olson, and School Superintendent Daren Christianson explained their findings which showed no misgivings whatsoever in regards to Welsh assuming the position as head cook at the elementary school.
Many letters of recommendation were received from fellow staff members and former colleagues supporting Welsh taking the position. Christianson stated that he looked further into Welsh’s employment history and found nothing to detract from her as a good worker.
Head cook Sabrina Marcelin was also present at the meeting and gave her support and recommendation to approve the work agreement with Welsh as well. The hiring committee that recommended Welsh at the first meeting- Christianson, Marcelin, and elementary principal Todd Hetler- stated that they stood by their original recommendation.
Chris Olson moved and Nicole Koons seconded for approval of Welsh’s work agreement. Dave Hart called for a roll call vote. The votes were all YES with the exception of Warren Jonasson who voted NO. Welsh was approved and will continue as head cook at the elementary school.
Following the vote, there was no discussion and the meeting was adjorned.
Warren Jonasson was approached following the meeting and asked for comment. He responded with, ”I don’t talk to that….newspaper.”
