A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Walhalla for Earleen D. Mostad, 90, of Walhalla, who passed away Monday, February 18, 2019, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Earleen was born April 28, 1928, at home in Fremont Township to Wilfrid and Lillian (Vondal) Verville and grew up on the family farm. Earleen graduated from Walhalla High School and attended Mayville Teacher’s College for two years. After college she taught in Fremont Township for five years. On November 17, 1954, she married Jerdis Mostad at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Walhalla. After their marriage, she worked at the Variety Store and worked for various farmers in potatoes. She then worked at the Hotel Bar and Jackson’s Bar. Some of the things she enjoyed were gardening, yard work, and reading.
Survivors include her children: Debbie (Clifford) Peterson, Walhalla; Jerry (Annette) Mostad, Walhalla; Jack (Renita) Mostad, Bismarck; and Joel Mostad (Jeannette Lipsch) Walhalla; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerdis; son James; sister Eileen Byron; brother Clarence Verville; brothers-in-law: Louis Byron and Roland Mostad; and sister-in-law Charlotte Beauchamp.
