Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Nekoma Lutheran Church in Nekoma for Idella (Mutcher) Petri, who died peacefully surrounded by her family on March 4, 2019, in Grand Forks, at the age of 87. Burial will be in the spring at Nekoma Lutheran Cemetery.
Idella was born on May 16, 1931, at the family farm near Dresden, to Reinhold and Ida Mutcher. She married Leo Petri on May 25, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Dresden. They settled on his family homestead near Nekoma where they raised their three children. She worked along-side her husband planting and harvesting crops until they retired in 1980. She enjoyed mowing grass, gardening, sewing, quilting, playing cards, and working on jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of the Nekoma Lutheran Church, a WELCA member and Sunday school teacher. She moved into the Osnabrock Community Living Center in 2016.
Idella is survived by her children: Charles (Dolores) Petri of Sidney, Neb., Eileen (David) Moen of Nekoma, David “Kid” Petri of Nekoma; grandchildren: Nikki (Jacob), Amanda, Josh (Mary), Cati (Cody), Brandee, Christopher; great-grandchild Zoe; and siblings: Raymond (Kathy) Mutcher, Myrtle (Robert) Jennings, Norma Ophaug, Grace Kaercher, Gorden (Jeri) Mutcher, Joyce Poss and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo; siblings: Ilene Mutcher, Eugene Mutcher, Doris Balsdon; sister-in-law Connie Mutcher; and brothers-in-law: Darrell Ophaug, James Balsdon, and Gordon Poss.
