This is the second straight year a Lady Cards player has been honored, as Jordyn Worley was on the first team last year.
Callie, a junior at Edmore, averaged 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.2 steals a game for the Cardinals, who had another fine season going 23-3 overall and fifth place at the State B Tournament. She played more on the perimeter this past year, as opposed to being more of post player last year. But she went inside when necessary.
Lady Cards coach Rob Scherr said her Ronningen begin named to the first team, “It’s awesome for her and for our program to have a player on the team two years in a row. Callie’s game just elevated this year. When she is on the floor, everyone becomes better. She was so flexible, some games I’d have her bring the ball up as the point guard and I’d also put her in the post if there was a mismatch. She a great player, does a wonderful job as one of team leaders, and is an even better person.”
Out of the 17 players on the All-State first and second teams, like Callie, 15 of them of underclassmen. Kindred freshman Abby Duschscherer was the lone unanimous selection for this years squad, which has no seniors on the first team.
