As it seems every spring, high school baseball has been slowed by chilly temperatures and a lengthy snow melt this season. The Langdon-Edmore-Munich Cardinals high school got two games in at the Shiloh Christian Invitational in Bismarck on April 6. The Cards got in due to Enderlin being a late scratch. Langdon-Edmore-Munich won the two games they participated in, beating Velva 1-0 and Shiloh Christian 5-3. The Cardinals are hoping to begin league play with Region 4 games scheduled at Grafton on April 13 then at home versus Park River-Fordville-Lankin on April 15. The weather may play a factor as to whether those games get played or not. Here is a recap of the Cardinals first two games of the season:
Langdon-Edmore-Munich 1, Velva 0
The highlights of the Cardinals first contest were their great defense and the shutdown pitching of Grant Romfo. He allowed just one hit in six and two thirds of an inning pitched. Simon Romfo came in on relief in the seventh inning and got the final out to get the win on the mound.
Offensively the Cardinals managed just four hits themselves: two from Grant Romfo and one each from Jack Romfo and Cooper Zimmer.
It was Zimmer who had the game winning hit, as he singled to bring home Grant Romfo with the winning run walk off styles in the bottom of the seventh inning.
