Jake’s Take on Sports

Warming up the activities

The weather has finally warmed hopefully for good to get a number of spring activities in.  It’s crazy to think that this week we will be one month away from graduation for area schools.  And that being said there are a lot of spring sporting activities to get in as well as some events to update you on.  Let’s tell about them:

Cardinals Sports Boosters to take over Eagles burger night

As they have made it an annual event the last couple of years, the Langdon-Edmore-Munich Sports Boosters will take over Burger Night at the Langdon Eagles Club on April 26.  The evening will run as it normally does with the only exception that all of the proceeds will go to the Cardinals Sports Boosters.  This organization helps out and promotes all of the Cardinals athletic programs no matter what the season, so please come out and support this event and enjoy a great meal at the same time.

Langdon Country Club not quite ready to go yet

Golf news this week is that the Langdon Country Club still has a good amount of snow on the course, and they are holding off opening it for the time being.  The hope is to have everyone running by the end of April, but a lot of snow has disappeared recently with the warmer weather, so the opening day could possibly move up a day or two.  The Spring Meeting for the club is still planned for April 30, and their will be a Tuesday Men’s Stag once again on April 23.  On the high school golf front, the Lady Cards golf team will hope to play their first meet of the season at Larimore on April 26, with the boys hoping to get their first meet in also at Larimore on April 30.  We the weather will hold for all of these events can go on.

Track Meet set for Langdon on April 27

We will leave you this week by saying that the first Langdon track meet of the season was cancelled due to the weather, but another one is scheduled and should go on for April 27.  Volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs at this meet, please contact Langdon High School for more information.  The next meet for area track teams is coming up April 23 in Cavalier for varsity and JV.  Also congratulations to Elise Ramberg in the two mile run, and Lexi Olson in the 300 hurdles on qualifying for the State Track Meet.  Good stuff!

Happy Easter to all and “See ya!” next week!
