Cardinals on a gigantic home stand to finish regular season

Posted 5/2/19

By Jake Kulland

As we come to you this week, we are getting ready for the home opener for the season for the Langdon-Edmore-Munich Cardinals high school baseball team.  The Cards have been road warriors all season due to weather issues and American Legion Field being dry enough to host games.  That time has finally come, and with it the Cardinals have a long stretch of home games going right until the end of the postseason.  In the week ahead Langdon-Edmore-Munich will have home games Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, May 6-9.  This is a great chance to see the team play live.  Simon Romfo of the Cardinals also go some good news in that his broken finger will not need surgery, although he still may be done for the high school baseball season.  He should be good to go for Legion ball this summer, however, which is a lot better situation then what was thought 10 days ago.

Langdon to host second track meet of the season

A second track meet of the season will be held on May 7 in Langdon.  This is both a junior high meet, plus they are opening it up to 5th and 6th graders as well.  Crazy to say that regionals for track and field are already coming up on May 18, so we are all really hoping for good weather to get the remaining regular season meets in, to get as many area athletes as possible qualified for state.  If you can help out with the meet on May 7, please contact the Langdon High School at 701-256-5291.

Pritchard named to Optimists All-Star Volleyball Team

We will leave you this week by congratulating Langdon senior Madi Pritchard on being named to the 2019 North Dakota Coaches Association/Optimists All-Star Volleyball team.  Madi, who led her team to a third place finish at the State B Volleyball Tournament last fall, was one is the only player to make the team from Region 4, and she joins a long list of former Lady Cards who have gone on to play in these contests.  The East vs. West matches will be played June 10 at Fargo North High School, and June 11 in Mandan.  We will have more on this story when we approach those dates, but we want to say way to go Madi!

We are off to Williston to moonlight playing some music in God’s Country for the weekend… “See ya!” next week!
