William (Bill) Eugene Porter, a 1946 Langdon High School graduate, died in Mesa, Ariz. on June 21, 2019.
He was born on January 15, 1929, in Calvin to Emma and William Ernest Porter. The family moved to Langdon in 1932 when the John Deere dealership was obtained. After graduation, he enrolled at UND, earning a B.A. in 1950 and a law degree (J.D.) in 1953. After 4 ½ years in the Air Force he completed one year at the University of Michigan Law School, receiving a Master of Law degree. For 33 years he practiced law in the law departments of two Twin Cities corporations, retiring as Associate General Counsel. On retiring, he and his wife, Phyllis, moved to Mesa, Ariz.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (nee Jordheim); two children, Mark and Vicki; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Mesa, Ariz. on July 20, 2019. His ashes will be buried in the family plot at Lebanon Cemetery in Langdon. Prior to burial, there will be a memorial service at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2019.
