Janice E. Cooper

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon for  Janice E. Cooper, 82, of Langdon, who passed away Friday, August 23, 2019, at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon.

Janice was born February 11, 1937, at Devils Lake, to Jens C. and Lenora (Olson) Hanson. She grew up and attended school at Devils Lake graduating from Devils Lake High School in 1955. She then attended Minot State Teachers College before enlisting in the U.S Army where she served as a cryptographer. On February 1, 1957, she married Wayne Cooper in Edgefield, S.C. They moved to Fairbanks, AK, where two of their children were born. They then moved to Fort Huachuca in Arizona. She and Wayne welcomed two more children while living in Slidell, La., and eventually moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1970. While in Lubbock, she worked in administration at Texas Tech University in several departments. In 1993, they moved to Hannah and while there she enjoyed cooking at the Hannah Café. They moved to an apartment in Langdon in 2010. In her younger years, she enjoyed reading and embroidery. She edited the Hannah cookbook and served on the patient relations board at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon. She enjoyed living in the communities of Hannah and Langdon. She was known for her sense of humor and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra Jo Cooper of Langdon and Nancy Ellen (Don) Cooper-Muellenberg of Munich; grandchildren: Kylie Tyree (Garth) Land, Brooke Leigh (Charlie) Plunkett, Ashley Renee Dillman, Alaina Lenore Minyard, and Arianne Denise Minyard; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Barb (Luke) Bell, Helen (Chuck) Nelson, and Carolyn (Dean) Brown.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Earl “Wayne” Cooper;  sons Bruce Wayne and Kevin Dale; and brothers: Gary, Larry, and David Hanson.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon.
