Rain, rain, go away… Langdon Cross Country Meet postponed

Posted 9/12/19

By Jake Kulland

As we start this time around, we have had constant precipitation as we type on Sept. 12.  Rain always seems to come at the perfect time when harvest was just getting into high gear.  While the days ahead look much better, let’s hope things straighten out.  The weather has caused a few postponements of some area activities.  A cross country meet that was to be held at the Cavalier Country Club on Sept. 12 has now been moved to Sept. 19.  A reminder that Langdon will host a meet at the Country Club on Sept. 23, a Monday.  This will give fans a chance to see the Cardinals runners in person, including senior Elise Ramberg, who is the top ranked runner in the state in girls cross country.  It has also been raining so much that the season finale at River Cities Speedway was cancelled for Sept. 13 and will not be rescheduled.  But again, better warmer times are ahead of us, at least for a few days.

Cardinals ready for home games this week

It’s not Homecoming yet for the Langdon-Edmore-Munich Cardinals, but you would think it is with both the football and volleyball teams at home in the week coming up.  The Lady Cards volleyball team will host North Border on Sept. 19.  The Cardinals have gotten off to a 5-1 start on the season after a third place finish in the Northern Cass Tournament.  The Cardinals football team is still ranked number one in Class A 11 Man Football, and their next game is at home on Sept. 20 versus Harvey-Wells County.  The Hornets were picked as high as second in Region 2A in preseason polls, and they got a big win over Rugby their last time out, so it should be a decent test for the Cardinals.  Both football and volleyball teams have some very lofty goals this season, so don’t miss your opportunity to come out and see them play in person.

Langdon Country Club postpones final tournament of the season

It seems like the weather has been the main topic of this weeks visit (Isn’t it always?), and our weekly updates of the goings on at the Langdon Country Club are no expception.  The LCC has postponed their last tournament of the year, a Ryder Cup tourney, which has been now moved to Oct. 5.  This tournament was added to the schedule last year, and those that played in it had a blast from what we were told.  We will talk up more about that in the weeks leading up to the event.  Tuesday Men’s Stag Nights continue at the clubhouse for the foreseeable future, and the forecast looks fantastic for this Tuesday, Sept. 17, so come on out and enjoy the beautiful course.

“See ya!” next week!
