The annual Harvey Hope Memorial Cross Country Meet is set to go Sept. 23 at the Langdon Country Club.  Approximately eight teams from across the region will be participating.  This is the only meet scheduled for Langdon this season, so hopefully fans will get out and see the runners in person.  The Cardinals Elise Ramberg is once again ranked number one in the state in the latest girls individual cross country poll, but a number of girls and boys runners have been doing very well this season.  The meet will start at 4:00 p.m.  And speaking of the club, Tuesday Men’s Stag Nights at the course will continue for the next couple of weeks, with the Fall Meeting for the Langdon Country Club happening Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Cardinals football stays unbeaten;  Grade school team to play at the Fargodome Sept. 29

Things are right on course for the Langdon-Edmore-Munich football team.  The Cardinals are unbeaten at 4-0 on the year as we hit the halfway point of the season.  While much is talked about the Cards offensive prowess and rightfully so, it’s been the defense so far that has been the unsung heroes of the team thus far.  The Cardinals first team defense has not allowed a point all season, and they have been one hard hitting, ball hawking group.  Langdon-Edmore-Munich had seven quarterback sacks versus Rugby, and have been holding teams to near negative numbers in rushing thus far.  After playing at Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn on Sept. 27, the Cardinals will have a two game home stand against Bottineau on Oct. 4, and Carrington on Oct. 11, which will also be Homecoming and Senior Night.

The Langdon-Edmore-Munich grade school team, made up of over 30 4-6 graders will get the honor of playing at the Fargodome on Sept. 29.  This is something they have done for the last couple of years now, but how much fun will they be having being able to play on the very same field the top ranked Bison do.  We hope it’s another successful event once again this year.

Ellingson, Hart excelling in college volleyball at Jamestown and UND

You will notice in this weeks Republican that Langdon graduate and now University of Jamestown junior Sydney Ellingson got two different player of the week honors from her conference and from the Jamestown Optimists clubs this past week.  She and former Lady Cards teammate Madi Hart have gotten off to great 2019 year of women’s volleyball.  Hart is listed as a sophomore for the UND Fighting Hawks team, and is fourth on the team in digs and has three service aces so far, as the 7-5 Hawks get ready for conference play.

Ellingson meanwhile leads the Jimmies in digs with 228, and has 11 aces, good for fourth on the team for her 12-2 team.  Jamestown is ranked 13th in the country in the NAIA Top 25.

It’s great to see both ladies doing so well at the collegiate level, and we hope they both keep up the great work.

“See ya!” next week!
