Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bottineau for Mike Klein, 53, of Minot and formerly of Langdon, who died on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, in a Minot hospital from complications related to an ATV accident at Lake Metigoshe on August 31, 2019. His loving family was at his side. Interment will be in the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.
Michael John Klein was born on October 14, 1965 in Langdon to Darrol and Marlene (Anderson) Klein. He was raised and educated in Langdon, baptized and confirmed at United Lutheran Church and received his GED in 1984. He continued his education at AVTI College in East Grand Forks, Minn., graduating in 1987 with a degree in diesel mechanics. He was once married to Vicki Platz. They moved to Minot in 1992. He and his wife, Shelley, have been together for the past 16 years. He held various jobs including, but not limited to, Prairie Truck Equipment, City of Minot and most recently as a partsman and salesman at Tuff Trucks. He was an active member of Pheasants For the Future and was known for his smile and infectious laugh. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling on his smoker, riding motorcycle, watching football, spending time at Lake Metigoshe and being with family and friends. Also, he enjoyed camping, boating, enduro cars and collecting NASCAR memorabilia.
Mike’s loving family includes his wife, Shelley; parents Darrol and Marlene Klein of Minot; sister Michelle (Terry) Heck of Miles City Mont.; Shelley’s parents, Harold and Avonne Gessner of Bottineau; sisters-in-law Tammy (Mike) Hall of Newburg and Debbie Nelson of Minot; nieces and nephews: Nicholas (Tahnee) Magnus, Amber Magnus, Bethany (Justin) Hughes, Jameson (Libby) Hall, Jasmine (Jake) Tengesdal, Elizabeth Nelson (Zac Elgie), Jordan Nelson and Alex Nelson; great-nieces and great-nephews: Nicholas Magnus, Dennis and Harrison Hughes, and Piper Tengesdal; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew and Myrtle (Horpestad) Klein and John and Clara (Olson) Anderson, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
