Down will come baby, cradle and all

A lot has happened over the past few weeks in national and international news. It’s a lot to take in and it’s also a lot of “spin” to sift through to find the actual truth. Luckily, recordings exist and are incredibly common sources of information that, hopefully, will not have been meddled with.
One of the most intriguing aspects of politics is reaction time- the length it takes either a single, group, or collective politicians to have scripted responses to read from. Normally, I would veer away from political commentary, but news as big as the Democratic house speaker announcing an impeachment inquiry is definitely something that we should all be considering, especially from the objective standpoint.
Who has the most to gain from this move? What finally made the bough break to bring the loud cries for impeachment finally heard? How many cohorts of the President will go down with him if it reaches the point of trial to impeach?
From the outside looking in, there appears to be a lot that could, can, and most likely will be used to bring the current President to full-on impeachment. There are a couple of really intriguing aspects, I think, when looking at this current situation of national politics.
The timing. The official presidential election campaign is just a few short months away. Current polls show that the leading Democratic candidates have a fighting chance of beating Trump in an honest election. Front runners for the nomination of the party candidate have, for awhile now, all called for impeachment proceedings. I cannot be the only one who considers the timing of this announcement and subsequent investigation to be circumspect.
What is also interesting in this timing is that should Trump be forced to step down, that would open up the Republican party for a new presidential candidate. This opening, should it occur, gives some major Republican players a new way to present themselves to their supporters- taking up the banner, so to speak, to stop the onslaught of “rabid liberals”.
The catalyst. For many, Trump’s transgressions and cause for impeachment is a very long list beginning when he was still just a candidate in the 2016 election. From broken campaign promises, abuse of power, profiting from the office, working to undermine American democracy with a foreign power, to just plain being an embarrassment- the reasons people give for why he should be removed are varied.
So the fact that with all of these rallying cries and listed reasons that for many hold clout, the decision to pursue an impeachment inquiry was started following a phone call with the Ukrainian leader. Transcripts show that during the phone call Trump asks for that foreign power to investigate Joe Biden is telling- not only that the President is willing to abuse the power of the oval office but that the Democratic party leaders have their own to protect. Joe Biden is the darling of the establishment Democrats. That he is and has been their pick for candidate so very obvious now.
The winds are blowing hard in Washington, D.C., and to be honest, they smell pretty foul of political intrigue that benefits only those who are employed by the people to represent them at the federal level to keep them in power.
