Lady Cards get back to business with a sweep at Dakota Prairie It’s been an interesting week for the Langdon-Edmore-Munich Cardinals volleyball team. A blizzard forced the postponement of a Homecoming match with St. John on October 10 and also cancelled the Langdon Invitational Volleyball Tournament for the first time ever.
The Lady Cards finally got back on the court at McVille versus Dakota Prairie on October 15. And while they were a little rusty early, they swept the Knights 3-0 by set scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-8.
With the win, the Cardinals record is now 19-3-1, and they will be very busy in the week ahead. Langdon- Edmore-Munich will play at a tournament in Carrington on October 19 then have four regular matches in five days: Oct. 21 at Park River- Fordville-Lankin, Oct. 22 at home in Edmore versus New Rockford- Sheyenne, Oct. 24 at Harvey-Wells County, then the makeup match with St. John at home in Langdon on Oct. 25.
In their match at McVille, the Lady Cards fought through the first set and rolled from there. The Cardinals had 20 service aces which is a big number for a three set match. Callie Ronningen led the way with a season high six aces followed by Lexi Olson and Morgan Freije with five each. Ronningen finished with a double-double on the night with a team high 13 kills and 14 digs.
Kaylee Lowery also had a great defensive match with 12 digs, while Olson had nine. Calyn Crockett led the way in assists with 16 followed by Morgan Thielbar with six. Carly Lippert had six kills to lead the Knights.
